Story Boarding
Why do we need a great story board? Well that's a great question. And we are here to tell you. A story board is simply a way of mapping out the path at which your story unfolds. It's about having a vision and being able to bring it to life using visual imagery. It's almost like a portrait of how the character and environment organically intertwine. Now when you start to think about your story board, you can make it as simple or complex as possible. But if your new to story boarding you probably wanna work to keep it as simple as possible. You really shouldn't try to over complicate it. Lets take a story board from Gumby done by the works of Art Cloaky.
It's pretty simple and very well read. Notice as well how he didn't over clutter the scenes. Yet he still gets his point accross. We really like this style of story boarding because it offers up a more realistic picture or better yet shows just how easy story boarding can be for those young and old trying to learn. The story board is just simply that, a story board. It's kind of like the schematics (a structural or procedural diagram) for the story. Now lets look at a story board from Wallace and Gromit.

How do create a great plot?
Well here's some bullet points that may help guide you. Every great plot contains....
* Protaganist and Antaganist
* Build up of either excitement or wonder or adventure
* Stuggle - (struggles build character)
* Resolution
* Wrap up
It's a lot more detail oriented and a lot busier. Yet it still maintains a clear narrative. And if you happen to be a fan of Wallace and Gromit you can probably gather it's from the movie Wallace and Gromit Wrong Trousers. Another thing we like about this story board is the character's expressions. Each contain a story almost of their own. We love when you can look at a story board whether simple or complicated and you can almost feel the emotions of the characters. It would be very hard if you had a team of people gathered together trying to help you develope a little animated short. Only to find out later that none of your team mates had any clue what was really going on in the story because they couldn't read the characters emotions.
